Game Boy Color is an iteration NOT a successor to the Game Boy
[edit]I believe the gbc should be an iteration of the original game boy and not a successor due to having a short time to competed for 2 years before when the gba was released, half of the Game Boy Color library have black game boy color cartridges that work on the game boy and super game boy, the sales with game boy and game boy color have been merged and while the game boy color is powerful than the game boy but its more of a half step up like the DSi and New 3DS, especially since nintendo was developing the game boy advance since 1995 and pretty much left the Game Boy Color for people to have while they wait for the Game Boy Advance so I hope this could be changed Justthat1guyinwiki (talk) 03:28, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- Your entire argument is based on original research, not reliable sources. We don't decide based on some metric like time between consoles or just how powerful they are to say if one's a successor. ThomasO1989 (talk) 00:03, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- ok then https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/finance/hard_soft/ this is Nintendo's official website (in japan) shows the sales of each nintendo console and they merged the game boy and game boy color sales (as one of my reasons you saw) it's like saying the Nintendo DSi is the successor to the Nintendo DS but it's not and if it was the successor then Nintendo wouldn't even merged sales with it in the first place (Same thing with it with the New Nintendo 3DS) Justthat1guyinwiki (talk) 22:10, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- The Game Boy Color is its own console, like how the 3DS and the DS are the different consoles. There are GBC exclusive games that can't be played on a Game Boy, and that alone makes the GBC a console.
- The 2DS and the 3DS are the same console since they share the same games, but GBC and GB are different. AlfLandonFan (talk) 16:58, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
- By that argument the New 3DS is a separate console from the 3DS, as there are games that are supported by the New 3DS that the original 3DS model (and the 2DS) cannot play.
- the article as it read now is correct, as it properly explains the relationship, and most importantly how Nintendo themselves consider it. Being it's their hardware, they would know. oknazevad (talk) 18:11, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
Framerate ambiguity
[edit]The listed source for the framerate is https://tasvideos.org/PlatformFramerates, the archived version has just one listed framerate for the game boy color but at present there is 60 different measurements for what the framerate is. What makes 59.727500569606 Hz the "correct one"?
It seems to just be an unnecessarily confusing degree of precision to include, especially when the cited source conflicts the information in the article by having 59 different measurements to what is shown (with no distinction made for the 59.727 reading being anything definitive).
